Wait, is something happening with Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s marriage?

It was a reunion 18 years in the making between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck who got engaged back in 2002 only to split, reunite in 2021 and get hitched (for real this time) in 2022.

But concerns are at an all-time high for the future of Bennifer. Bring on the Sadfleck memes

The first red flag was the fact the couple didn't attend the Met Gala together, which came in stark contrast to Lopez's fellow chair, Chris Hemsworth, who enjoyed the event with his wife, Elsa Pataky. For what it's worth, Affleck's rep said the actor "didn't attend the Met Gala because he is filming the Accountant 2 in Los Angeles."

I mean, sure, but also Hemsworth is currently zipping around the world promoting Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and yet he managed to find the time to slide into a suit, comb his hair and get his photo taken with his wife in New York City.

Then like clockwork this week, the tabloids started reporting that the couple are headed for divorce town — not to be confused with Affleck's 2010 flick, The Town.

According to In Touch, Affleck has already "moved out" of the $60 million home he shares with Lopez. "The writing is on the wall – it’s over," an insider claimed. "They’re headed for a divorce – and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame!"

Hmm. Weird thing to say, no??

This report is wildly biased in favour of Affleck, with reports it was the director who "decided to call it quits" on his marriage. "He's focusing on his work and his kids now," the insider added.

Ah, that ol' chestnut. Sophie Turner knows it all too well.

It gets... worse.

"They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can't control him, and he can't change her," the source said. "They both said they'd matured and learned from their mistakes, but some of the bigger issues that tore them apart the first time remained the same."

The following day, the Daily Mail piled on the divorce rumours. They ran this actual headline: 'Jennifer Lopez steps out solo again SEVEN WEEKS after she was last pictured in public with Ben Affleck (and they both looked miserable).'

Lol.

The tabloid reported that Bennifer hadn't been spotted out together since March.

Both Jen and Ben have made public appearances in recent weeks, including Affleck doing a rather rogue spot at The Roast of Tom Brady for Netflix, but they haven't done any red carpets together.

This could, of course, mean nothing as both celebs have busy schedules right: Ben is filming his aforementioned sequel to The Accountant and Jen is preparing to go on tour.

However, the Daily Mail are also claiming that Lopez was spotted house-hunting in Los Angeles. At the same time, TMZ photographed Affleck leaving a home in an LA suburb where he had been staying without his popstar wife.

These claims come as there's been mounting criticism against Lopez in recent months with users on TikTok turning against the 'Get Loud' singer for her antics in her (delightfully bonkers) film, This Is Me... Now: A Love Story, and the accompanying documentary on Prime Video.

Lopez self-funded the project which cost a cool $20 million and her husband Affleck co-wrote the script which is essentially a dedication to their decades-spanning romance.

In the documentary, there were a few stray moments of tension captured between the couple. In one awkward scene, Affleck is left shocked to find Lopez handing over private love letters he wrote her to her songwriters for 'This is Me… Now.'

"Things that are private, I always felt are sacred and special because, in part, they’re private. So this was something of an adjustment for me," he said.

The actor titled the letters to Lopez 'The Greatest Love Story Never Told' which she turned into the name of the documentary. "I did really find the beauty and the poetry and the irony in the fact that it’s the greatest love story never told," Affleck said.

"If you’re making a record about it, that seems kind of like telling it."

In the film, Lopez did admit to making her husband uncomfortable by turning their private life into her music material. "I don’t think [Ben] is very comfortable with me doing this, [but] he doesn’t want to stop me," she said.

Thoughts and prayers for this couple because we've already suffered through one Bennifer breakup, our hearts can't take another.
